What we do.

Graftoss is a company formed by WaikatoLink Limited, the technology transfer office of the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand. The company’s technology is protected by Patent.

Graftoss’s bone matrix technology has applications as a xenograft material for human and veterinary grafting, including spinal fusion, hand and foot surgery, simple and complex fractures repair, joint reconstruction and dental implants, and as an antibiotic impregnated graft material for application in conditions such as osteomyelitis.

In late 2007 Graftoss was successful in attracting investment from Venture Capital Firm Endeavour Capital which has allowed the company to continue developing this leading edge technology. We are actively seeking partners in the development and commercialisation of this technology.

Company Profile

Graftoss Limited is a medical device company which is developing a bone implant sourced from bovine bone for use by surgeons and veterinarians.
The processed bone has its indigenous organic compounds removed, and is then reinforced with an organic biocompatible matrix, providing mechanical strength and aiding in bone regeneration.

Value Proposition

  • The bovine bone is sourced from a naturally free BSE free herd.
  • Good compressive strength.
  • Improved handling characteristics.
  • Through processing the bone matrix retains its macro and micro porous structures.
The naturally occurring reinforcing compound enhances osteo induction and osteo conduction.
  • The device can be used to deliver therapeutics to the bone repair site.
  • Can be carved into desired shapes by the surgeon.

Indications

Graftoss’s bone matrix technology has applications as a xenograft material for human and veterinary grafting, including spinal fusion, hand and foot surgery, simple and complex fractures repair, joint reconstruction and dental implants, and as an antibiotic impregnated graft material for application in conditions such as osteomyelitis.

IP Position

Patent applications have been filed. Graftoss’s strategy is to develop a portfolio of patents for bone graft and bone replacement technologies through acquisition, partnering or in-licensing.

Partnering or Investment

This technology is at early stage proof of concept. Graftoss is seeking early access relationships and research and development partners for the continued development of this technology.
